Teaching Interests:

Development and teaching of advanced remote sensing courses linking theory with practical experience for a variety of remote sensing sensors and applications including hyperspectral, multispectral, and Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR); development of internet and computer-media-based remote sensing courses; motivation, supervision and mentoring of graduate students.

Research Interests:

Physics-based exploration of diverse remote sensing datasets to extract information applicable to scientific problems in geologic mapping, mineral exploration, geothermal energy, geologic hazards, environmental monitoring and remediation and military operations. Characterization of spectral properties and variation of Earth-surface materials; development of advanced data analysis strategies, methods and techniques; development of knowledge-based approaches for identifying and mapping Earth-surface materials using laboratory, aircraft and satellite spectra; characterization and mapping of the Earth's surface using combined analysis of a broad range of remote sensing data and data fusion; and integration of data sets using raster layer stacking and GIS.
