UNR Geology Field Camp: May 28 - July 19

Notch Peak, Utah
Tent camp in Unionville

Prof. Rich Schweickert  Camp Director

Rich is a structural geologist who has worked in the North American Cordillera, Appalachians, Mediterranean, and Antarctica. Most of his research focus is in the Sierra Nevada and Great Basin regions. He uses regional to ultradetailed mapping, structure, stratigraphy, petrology, geochemistry, and geophysical techniques to solve tectonic and neotectonic problems.  He has led or participated in many geology field camps in Nevada and California over thirty years.

Prof. Greg Arehart

Greg is an economic geologist/isotope geochemist with interests in hydrothermal processes in a wide variety of environments. He utilizes techniques (among others) such as isotope geochemistry to understand the timing and nature of fluids in the earth's crust. His other interests include paleoclimate and regional geology and evolution of western North America.

Prof. James Carr

Jim is a geological engineer/geologist with research interests in landslides, remote sensing, geomorphology, and surface processes on Mars. He was one of the discoverers of dust devils on Mars. He is also an avid mineral and fossil collector. He teaches a variety of geology courses, including field geology, introductory geology, remote sensing, and data analysis.

Dr. Patrick Goldstrand

Dr. Thomas Anderson

"I feel privileged to have had Rich as an instructor. He could answer any question we would ask and was always excited about being out in the field."
