Reading list
Term Paper: A term paper is required. It is not a book report or literature review (for which no credit will be given). Instead, it is to be an original investigation of a problem in geologic fracture mechanics that you pose and evaluate (and solve) using the new methods that you are learning in this seminar. A one-paragraph prospectus of what you propose to do is required and must be approved before starting work on the paper. High professional standards of writing and referencing are expected; all graphics and tables must be computer generated; no hand-drawn materials or scanned figures from books, the web, or other sources can be used. All your work must be original.
Length: 1020 pages, exclusive of figures, tables, and references
