THE DIANE K. BRYAN FUND

On August 23, 2004, the W.M. Keck Museum and the Mackay School of Earth Sciences and Engineering lost a true friend with the passing of Diane Bryan, who died peacefully at home surrounded by family after a long struggle with cancer.  Diane spent many years in the minerals industry, including the last eight years as the Education Coordinator with the Nevada Mining Association.  Those of us who had the privilege to know her and work with her saw her dedication to minerals education and knew her passion went beyond her “job-description” as she helped educators and students learn the importance of minerals and mining to our everyday life.

In order to honor Diane’s passion for minerals education, her husband, Dennis Bryan has established an endowment at the Mackay School of Earth Sciences and Engineering in her name.  The intention of this endowment is to help fund an award for a single parent attending Mackay, or possibly UNR as a whole, who demonstrates an interest in minerals education and outreach.
